Levothyroxine is also used in treatment of goiter. Hormone imbalances, radiation treatment, surgery, or cancer can cause the disease of goiter. But this drug is very suitable for avoiding the goiter.
When you start to use this drug you shuold take low dosage about 25 mcgs daily and increase to one tablet or continue as 25 mcgs daily every 5-6 days. You should take it 30 minutes before the meals, usually in the morning.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Increased sweating, mood changes, diarrhea, shortness of breath, tiredness, headaches, and sensitivity to heat are some of the severe side effects associated with the drug. Swelling of the ankles, hands or feet, chest pain, seizures, irregular/fast/pounding heartbeat, trouble breathing, rashes, swelling of the tongue, throat or face, itching, and severe dizziness are the other side effects.
